Another GREAT production by Crap Geo, the guys who bring you fear and utter nonsense!
Well I had high hopes for this two hour romp through the deep recesses of fear in each of us. I think they did a great job of showing just what they sell, FEAR, oh and products to make you feel better. AND THEY ASKED AT EVERY INTERMISSION IF YOU WERE AFRAID YET!!! As usual, they suck any benefit you could get out of the film. People buy things to make themselves feel better, more in control. Now they have many advertisers that have good products but when it’s done like this, what does that say for an industry. It’s kind of like Vegas. If you show folks winning a butt load of cash, you want to just in the car or on a plane and getcha some of that!
So we start with a very real potential issue: Cyber attack on the electrical grid. I put this in my threat matrix as a potential, not probable attack. There are far more things that attackers would use first. So we find that someone hacked into our system and started some sort of cascade that takes out the west, east and Texas grids. Yes Texas has it’s own electrical grid. The film spends time with several people or groups of people and walks you through what could happen. Common sense in all of these goes out the window pretty quick and remains at bay with moments of showing revival. We spend far to much time in the elevator scene that needs be, we get it. Wow, roads become clogged, no way! Every cliche that they could use from every disaster movie the producers had seen, they used.
I wonder, did Obama do a cameo or did they take something out of context for the film? So the big black out last 10 days and it, and the US Government saves everyone’s butts, right. I think this film, did more to insult the intelligence of many folks out there and showed nobody doing what neighbors and people would do and act. It showed mostly stupid people, going to stupid places where stupid things were happening. Why would that kid ever open a body bag? Why would he stay out when he is afraid of what happeinging around him? Nothing in this film really made sense. But that’s what Crap Geo does, it does not sell quality information to help people. If you make them afraid, they will buy stuff to make themselves feel good, it’s actually quite a smart retail campaign.
At least some folks had a happy ending, once the government helped them. So the lesson learned was to be afraid, do stupid shit and wait for the government to come to help. Not this boy or anyone I can help be a little more prepared. Do things that make your life better now and if things go sideways from time to time, that will help you sleep better at night!
I agree with you, I cannot and will not depend on the government. It took the government over 70 days to get assistance for the people of New Jersey last year and still some didn’t get assistance. You would think that after what has and is going on with the government at this time, that Americans would wise up.
Tina,
I just wish they had SHOWED folks doing the things they should be doing. Most are shown a victims and future victims.
