Hey folks, made an error on videos, here is the correct one!
Well it’s that time of year and we got caught flat footed, cold is coming and the water will freeze.
I decided to use are larger bucket for the inside water from the 2 gallon to the 5 gallon. Also added heaters to inside and outside buckets. Even after doing this, when it gets into single digits, the nipples will freeze, not the water though. So you open the lid and steam pours out but the nipples freeze inside, strange. Metal conducts the cold very well so I needed to come out and warm the nipples. Oh stop laughing….
So here’s some video on how we did this on the fly:
I’m very curious as to how you sold the cold nipple issue. I’m having the same issue. I’ve been shuttling those black rubber water bowls out, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. But it’s a pain.
Sorry, meant: “… how you solve”
Well, I haven’t is the short answer. Currently, they don’t freeze until the low teens. If it happens I can rub the by hand or use one of the chemical handwarmers to thaw them out. I am working on some additional insulation on the bottom of the bucket to see if that helps.
